Overview of the job
As a Civil & Structural Engineer or Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of structural design and construction activities. This includes interpreting and reviewing engineering plans and specifications, coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting project execution from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Technical Review:
- Review and evaluate structural and civil drawings, calculations, and specifications in line with regulatory and project requirements.
- Perform structural analysis and ensure design integrity using tools like AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, Tekla, etc.
- Prepare design reports, construction drawings, shop drawings, and technical submissions.
- Project Coordination & Site Management:
- Collaborate with architects, consultants, authorities, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Attend technical and site meetings with stakeholders and relevant authorities.
- Liaise with consultants and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and discrepancies during both design and construction phases.
- Construction & Quality Oversight:
- Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress, verify quality standards, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Ensure project milestones and work schedules align with the master programme.
- Participate in defect resolution and testing & commissioning to support timely project handover.
- Tendering & Contract Management:
- Assist in preparing design specifications and tender documents.
- Review bids and contracts, assess resource requirements, and contribute to cost estimation and planning.
- Regulatory & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure designs meet local authority requirements including the Building Control Act, Fire Safety Act, and Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations.
- Support documentation for submissions to authorities and compliance certifications.
- Leadership & Administration:
- Guide site supervisors and monitor manpower and work allocation.
- Support business development, manage variations, and track project financials and performance metrics.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Building Construction Management, or equivalent, preferably recognized by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB), Singapore.
- Preferably has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FEE) as required by PEB.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in civil and structural design or site supervision within the Singapore construction industry.
- Proficient in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, GSA, Tekla, and other structural analysis tools.
- Knowledge of Singapore building codes, regulations, authority submission processes, and safety legislation (e.g., WSH Act).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Able to work independently while coordinating across multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with BIM and green building requirements is a plus.
- Singaporean and PR preferred.
